Samenvatting

Zowel chirurgie als chemotherapie kan leiden tot vervroegde therapie-geïnduceerde overgang bij vrouwen met kanker. Daarnaast veroorzaakt antihormonale behandeling vaak overgangsklachten. Naast opvliegers (vasomotore klachten) en libidoverlies komen ook cognitieve problemen en aspecifieke klachten voor. Op de lange termijn kan een vervroegde overgang leiden tot urogenitale atrofie. Het belangrijkste onderdeel van de behandeling is herkenning en erkenning. Hormoonsubstitutietherapie is effectief, maar bij sommige tumoren gecontra-indiceerd. Ook andere medicamenten en niet-medicamenteuze behandelingen als mindfulness kunnen leiden tot vermindering van de klachten.
