17. Fractuurrisico

Samenvatting

Een hoog fractuurrisico en osteoporose komen frequent voor bij patiënten die kanker doorgemaakt hebben. Het risico hierop wordt met name bepaald door de behandeling die patiënten gehad hebben, maar ook door bijkomende risicofactoren zoals laag gewicht, vitamine D-tekort en verhoogd valrisico. Na radiotherapie moet de huisarts altijd bedacht zijn op insufficiëntiefracturen. Voor de identificatie van patiënten met een hoog fractuurrisico en behandeling daarvan kunnen grotendeels de NHG-Standaard Fractuurpreventie en Richtlijn Osteoporose en fractuurpreventie gevolgd worden. Realiseer je hierbij wel dat voor de risicoinschatting de bestaande risicoscoretabellen en calculatoren meestal een onderschatting geven in deze patiëntencategorie. Voor de behandeling van een hoog fractuurrisico kunnen eveneens de bestaande richtlijnen gevolgd worden, waarbij ook aandacht voor valrisicoreductie gewenst is.
